On 11th of December this year’s edition of GeMiniMUN took place for the first time online. In this event students from various Genovese secondary schools practice their debating skills in a simulation of a UN conference in preparation of GeMUN 2021. Our year nine students Fabiola, Ginevra and Zoe wrote clauses on the topic of “Addressing Mental Health in protracted humanitarian crises” and presented as well as debated them in World Health Organization. It was their first try at a MUN event and they presented them themselves admirably and even got a clause passed. There was also a simulation of a case in the International Court of Justice: “Application of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination” (Qatar v. United Arab Emirates) which Alberto of year eleven took part in successfully. After this trial of “GeMiniMUN a distanza” we are now starting to prepare for GeMUN 2021, which will also take part online from 18th to 20th February.
